Lehigh Valley food safety report: Insect activity in kitchen and food prep areas; animal products 'adulterated with fecal matter' (mcall.com) — Recent state food safety inspections turned up mostly minor issues at several Easton spots, including Lafayette College dining, Clove on William Penn Highway, and Jimmy's Hot Dogs. Most violations involved cleaning, equipment temperatures, and handwashing supplies, and all Easton establishments listed remain in compliance and open while they address the noted problems.

Farm and Fall Festival Fun in the Delaware Valley (metrokids.com) — Easton residents can look forward to PA Bacon Fest on Nov. 7–8, when historic downtown will fill with free, family-friendly fun, live music, cooking demos, and every imaginable bacon treat. 3. Man shot and killed in West Easton home after confrontation, police say (lehighvalleylive.com) — A 52-year-old man was shot and killed after a confrontation inside a West Easton home on Spring Street, and state police say there is no ongoing threat to the public. Multiple agencies, including Easton police and the Northampton County DA's office, are investigating and have not yet released the victim's or suspect's names. The road closure on Spring Street has since been lifted.
   

4. Man fatally shoots mother's abusive boyfriend in West Easton, DA says (lehighvalleylive.com) — A 26-year-old West Easton resident is charged with criminal homicide after prosecutors say he fatally shot his mother's longtime boyfriend while intervening in an alleged assault inside their Spring Street home. Northampton County authorities, including Easton police and state police, continue to investigate as the defendant awaits a Sept. 24 preliminary hearing. The case centers on long-term alleged abuse described in court records.
   

5. High school football rankings for Sept. 14: Well, now what? (lehighvalleylive.com) — Easton's high school football team has slipped to No. 10 in the regional Top 12 after a tough 44-14 home loss to Parkland, dropping its record to 1-2. The rankings highlight how early-season upsets are scrambling the pecking order, with Freedom, Nazareth, and others on the rise. Local fans can track how Easton responds in coming weeks.
