Witches Ride, Fun Fest Among New Events Coming To Newtown

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — This fall will be packed with Halloween fun in Newtown Borough, from annual favorites like the Haunted Hustle 5K Walk/Run and the town's Halloween Parade, to several new events, including a Witches' Ride through town and a Children's Fun Fest.

This year's Haunted Hustle 5K Walk/Run, sponsored by the NR2F1 Foundation, is set for Saturday, Oct. 17 from 8 to 11 p.m. There is no rain date.

The Newtown Borough Halloween Parade has been approved for Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 to 11 a.m., ending at Brian S. Gregg Park. The parade is organized by the borough's recreation board.

Joining this year's event lineup will be a Witches' Bicycle Ride through town on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 to 11 a.m. Organizers are modeling the event after a successful ride held every October in Doylestown Borough.

Another new addition is a Children's Fun Fest, which will follow this year's Halloween Parade. Organized by the Newtown Rotary Club, the fun fest will take place at Brian S. Gregg Park on North Congress Street after the awards.

Mark your calendar for these upcoming events approved by council.

• On Sept. 13, Lubavitch Buck County will hold Shofar in the Park from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at Pickering Field.
• On Sept. 26, Porchfest, sponsored by the Newtown Experience, returns to town with free musical acts scheduled on porches and in front yards throughout town. The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. There is no rain date.
• On Oct. 3, Market Day, sponsored by the Newtown Historical Association, takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 4.
• On Oct. 15, Main Street businesses will stage their annual Mr. Bucks County competition and breast cancer fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. State Street will be closed between Washington and Centre for the event.
