Kayaker Rescued, Vehicle Stolen, DUI Arrests: Northampton Township Police Report

Police investigate numerous incidents of fraud and file charges against dirt bike driver.

RICHBORO, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported the following arrests and incidents between August 31 and Sept. 13:

August 31

Dirt Bike - Patrol observed a dirt bike being operated in the area of Holland Road and Buck Road. Patrol attempted to stop the dirt bike; however, it fled the area. Lower Southampton Police located the bike and rider within their jurisdiction. The operator was identified, and charges relating to the incident were filed.

Sept. 2

Water Main Break - Patrol responded to the area of Bustleton Pike and Willow Drive for a reported water main break. Once on location, patrol contacted the water authority and closed the road until repairs were completed.

Sept. 3

Assist - Patrol responded to the 1900 block of Sackettsford Road for a report of an individual stranded on a kayak. Once on location, the kayaker was located, and the fire department assisted in bringing the individual to safety.

Sept. 4

DUI Arrest - Patrol initiated a traffic stop in the area of Elm Avenue and Wren Drive for a motor vehicle violation. Following an investigation, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Sept. 6

Motor Vehicle Theft - Patrol were called to a home in the Holland section of the township for a reported motor vehicle theft. Once on location, spoke with the owner and information was gathered. The vehicle was subsequently recovered. Thee case has been assigned to detectives for further investigation.

DUI Arrest - Patrol initiated a traffic stop in the area of 2nd Street Pike and Daisy Lane for a motor vehicle violation. Following an investigation, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Sept. 7

Fraud - A resident reported receiving a Facebook message from an individual claiming the they had won a Publishers Clearing House prize consisting of money and a vehicle. The individual told thee resident they needed to pay a “tax and clearance fee” and provide personal information. The resident told police they had never entered the sweepstakes. Information was gathered.

Fraud - A resident reported receiving an email from Amazon stating that their account had been restricted and providing a telephone number to call. The resident contacted the number and was instructed by an individual to go to a CVS and purchase gift cards to assist with validating the account. Information was gathered.

Sept. 9

Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of East Village Road and Sturbridge Commons for a reported traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling on East Village Road when it struck a parked vehicle. A tow was required.

Sept. 11

Disabled Vehicle - Patrol observed a disabled vehicle on 2nd Street Pike near East Bristol Road. Police spoke with the driver, who reported having a flat tire. Patrol assisted the driver, who was able to continue on their way.

Sept. 12

Theft - Patrol were called to a home in the Churchville section of the township for a reported theft. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the owner, who reported that sometime overnight, an unknown individual entered their vehicle and removed items. Information was gathered.

Sept. 13

DUI Arrest - Patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Buck Road and Kings Way for a motor vehicle violation. During the investigation, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

During this two week period, patrols handled 14 alarm calls, 34 abandoned 911 calls, 88 medical emergencies, 23 bookings, 11 domestic disputes, 8 civil disputes, 178 traffic monitoring details, and 46 crime prevention details.
