Multiple Amtrak Trains Canceled On Northeast Lines Due To Heat
More than 20 trains have been canceled since Thursday because of extended delays caused by the extreme heat, Amtrak said.
Amtrak has canceled more than a dozen trains in the northeast due to the extreme heat affecting the area.
The cancellations started Thursday and were continuing on Friday, according to announcements from Amtrak on its Amtrak Northeast account on X.
The affected routes serve areas from Virginia to Maine.

The heat also is forcing Amtrak trains to travel at slower speeds, which the company said could lead to "delays between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. starting Wednesday, July 1st, continuing through Saturday, July 4th."
The cancellations were to prevent extended delays, Amtrak said.

Amtrak said people planning to travel on its Northeast lines or Acela, which also has been affected, should check their train status on the Amtrak website and the Amtrak app.
