High School Roundup (Oct. 6): Ulrich's OT goal runs Boyertown's unbeaten streak to 11 straight in win over Spring-Ford (pottsmerc.com subscription) — Phoenixville High School teams had a busy Oct. 6, with field hockey, soccer, volleyball, and tennis all in action against PAC rivals. The boys soccer Phantoms stayed unbeaten with a 6–0 rout of Pottsgrove, while girls soccer and volleyball split tight matches and tennis fell to Methacton, giving local fans plenty to track as league races heat up.
   

2. Chesco Inspectors Flag Smoke Damage, School Kitchen Problems (mychesco.com) — Chester County health inspectors recently cited cleaning and equipment issues at a Malvern restaurant and a West Chester elementary school, while also listing several facilities as fully compliant. For Phoenixville residents, Aramark at Phoenixville Middle School and Hissho Sushi inside the Giant on Nutt Road both passed inspection, giving some reassurance about food safety at these frequently used local spots.
   

3. West Chester earns Bird Town Pennsylvania status (delcotimes.com) — West Chester just joined Phoenixville and a handful of other Chester County communities as an official Bird Town Pennsylvania, recognizing local efforts to create bird-friendly habitats. For Phoenixville residents, it's a reminder that your town already holds this eco-minded designation, with programs encouraging native plantings, reduced pesticides, and better habitat for birds that also benefit neighborhood quality of life.
   

4. Data centers targeted at Capitol rally as support sought from legislators, governor (alliednews.com) — A Phoenixville Liberation Center organizer joined dozens of activists in Harrisburg urging Governor Shapiro and legislators to halt new data centers and impose stronger protections for communities. Speakers compared data center risks to fracking, citing pollution, health impacts, and local opposition, while industry representatives defended the facilities as vital infrastructure that bring jobs, tax revenue, and economic growth to Pennsylvania.
