PITTSBURGH, PA — Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato revealed Tuesday that she is pregnant with her first child.

The baby, a boy, is due this winter.

The announcement came as Innamorato spoke at Tuesday's county council meeting, delivering her third quarterly address of the year. During her remarks, she continued her push for a paid parental leave proposal for all employees in the county.

"I also have to say I will be so disappointed in myself as the first county executive who will give birth in office to not be able to provide parental leave for other families who are struggling every day and just want that time to recover and to bond and to build their family," Innamorato said.

Since August 2025, under Innamorato's direction, county employees have enjoyed paid parental of 12 weeks. Innamorato plans to use those weeks when her baby arrives.

“I have to say that as a county employee, I plan on taking my time off," she said. "That’s what’s going to be best for me, for my son and for my family."

Innamorto is pushing a paid parental leave bill that would mandate that all county employers provide 18 weeks of paid parental leave after the birth, adoption or foster placement of a child.

The legislation has received considerable pushback from county business owners. They have complained that granting 18 weeks of leave place too much of a financial burden on them.
