Pirates' Star Player Could Miss Most Of Rest of Season
One of the Pittsburgh Pirates' top players will be out for a prolonged period after being injured in a game over the weekend.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pirates phenom rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin could miss up to 10 weeks after reportedly tearing a tendon in his hand.
Griffin has been placed on the 10-day IL. According to the team, he tore a tendon in his left ring finger while making a diving catch against the Washington Nationals over the weekend.
The injury comes barely 10 days after Griffin came off of the IL after missing a month with a right forearm flexor strain.

Typical treatment for Griffin's current injury typically involves keeping the finger in a splint for six weeks followed by two to four weeks of rehabilitation and recovery.
Having Griffin out that long could be ruinous for the Pirates' playoff chances. The team already has two other starters - outfielder Oneil Cruz and infielder Spencer Horwitz - out with injuries until at least after the All-Star Break next week.
