Pittsburgh Police Officer Shoots Armed Man
An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting occurred in Pittsburgh.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Allegheny County Police are investigating after a Pittsburgh police officer shot a man Thursday evening in the city's Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar neighborhood.
At around 8:40 p.m., city police responded to a county 911 call regarding three men arguing and threatening to pull out guns in the 6000 block of Lyric Street.
When officers arrived, they encountered a man holding a handgun. According to county police, an officer ordered the man to drop the gun but the man turned abruptly towards the officer and the officer fired his weapon.

The man, who did not fire any shots, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The officer who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
