Trump Praises Pittsburgh Supermarket Chain

President Donald Trump doesn't grocery shop in Pittsburgh, but he has recognized the efforts of Pittsburgh supermarket chain.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh grocery chain's decision to reduce prices on hundreds of items for the summer has drawn the attention of President Donald Trump.

The president on Sunday night took to Truth Social to laud Giant Eagle's recent price rollback promotion.

"Wonderful news! I have just been informed that Giant Eagle, a GREAT American Grocery Company, will be lowering Prices, by a lot, across more than 300 products this Summer, through Labor Day, to help hardworking American families," Trump stated.

"Other Grocery Chains must immediately follow the lead of these absolute Patriots at Giant Eagle and Walmart. Together, we will make America stronger and more affordable than ever before."

On July 9, Giant Eagle launched its "On Sale This Season" pricing initiative for the summer.Now through Labor Day, the supermarket chain will reduce and hold prices on more than 300 of the most frequently purchased products throughout it stores.

“We know our customers are seeking value in the face of elevated expenses," Justin Weinstein, Giant Eagle vice president and chief merchandising and marketing officer, said at the time.

" We took learnings from our seasonal pricing efforts last fall and used those insights to deliver a strong savings program that can help customers save all summer long.”
