Villanova Gets All-Clear After Thursday Morning Threat

The university said while the FBI is investigating the threat, regular campus activity will resume Friday.

VILLANOVA, PA — Villanova University has issued an all-clear to its campus community Thursday afternoon after a threat was made toward one of its buildings in the morning.

The school announced it would close for the day at about 7:20 a.m. Thursday after it received a threat of violence toward at an academic building. Students were told to stay in their residence halls until about 11 a.m. when officials said it was deemed safe to be outside on campus.

The university said learned of several other universities that received similar threats and that no actual threat was present on campus.

The FBI is continuing to investigate the threat.

For the rest of the day Thursday, in-person graduate classes scheduled for Thursday evening may be offered remotely at the discretion of the professor.

Courses that meet fully online may continue as scheduled, but will be held at faculty discretion.

The main dining halls — Dougherty, Donahue, and St. Mary’s Hall — the Connelly Center, Falvey Memorial Library, the Student Health Center and fitness centers are all open.

Intramural events scheduled for Thursday evening will be held.

The University is open with normal operations on Friday. All campus buildings will be open, and all classes and planned activities will move forward as scheduled, including the rising sophomore tours scheduled for tomorrow and Saturday at the Villanova University Cabrini Campus.

Out of an abundance of caution, there will continue to be additional Villanova Public Safety presence on campus to ensure the safety of the community, the school said.
