1. Flood warning system to upgrade stream gauges approved (sungazette.com) — Lycoming County has approved a major upgrade to its flood warning system, replacing stream gauges and launching a new data platform to better protect communities like Williamsport and South Williamsport. After severe early-September flooding, the county and nearby boroughs issued disaster declarations and are urging residents to report property damage through the Crisis Track system to help qualify for state and federal aid.
   

2. Angel Families Unite to hold remembrance ceremony in honor of homicide victims (sungazette.com) — Families in and around Lycoming County are invited to a Sept. 25 evening vigil organized by Angel Families Unite to honor homicide victims and support grieving loved ones. The ceremony will feature speakers sharing their loss, kid-friendly activities, resources from advocates with criminal justice and therapy backgrounds, and a candlelight reading of victims' names, with the public encouraged to attend in solidarity.
   

3. Judge decides fate of accused human trafficker (northcentralpa.com) — A Williamsport man has again been found guilty on human trafficking and related charges in Lycoming County, with sentencing set for Oct. 12. The judge rejected his testimony as not credible, instead relying on detailed accounts from two juvenile victims and co-defendants who described how addiction and drugs were used to attempt sexual exploitation.
   

4. UPMC Hospitals Recognized for Supporting Organ Donation Awareness (solomonswords.net) — UPMC Williamsport has earned a top-tier Titanium designation for its work promoting organ, eye, and tissue donation, putting a local spotlight on lifesaving education and outreach. The recognition, part of a statewide Donate Life challenge, highlights staff efforts like community campaigns and donor awareness events that directly involve north central Pennsylvania residents.
   

5. College president delivers Congressional testimony (newsitem.com) — Williamsport readers may be interested to know that Pennsylvania College of Technology President Michael J. Reed recently testified before a U.S. House Appropriations defense subcommittee about the need for skilled-trades workforce development. His comments in California highlighted how institutions like Penn College contribute to the nation's defense industrial base and future economic strength.
