Join us on Sunday, May 24 for a special FREE artist talk with Philadelphia sculptor beside her newly installed sculpture, Boy: Portrait of a Word, now part of the Public ARTS Program.
The work thoughtfully examines the layered history and meaning behind the word “boy,” particularly its historical use toward enslaved African American men, while honoring the humanity and dignity of those subjected to it. This promises to be a powerful and thought-provoking discussion about language, memory, public art, and the role sculpture can play in shared community spaces.
The morning will also include an optional walking tour of the Public ARTS Program led by Joanne Reszka.
