Here are the scores (newportri.com) — Cranston athletes are in the thick of Friday's high school action, with Cranston East sweeping Woonsocket in girls volleyball and both Cranston East and Cranston West football teams set for home games tonight at Cranston Stadium. The roundup also lists numerous soccer, field hockey, tennis, and volleyball results and schedules across Rhode Island as a coastal storm approaches.
   

• Was the state right to start over with its application process for new adult-use marijuana sales licenses? (pbn.com) — A would-be Cranston cannabis retailer who says he spent over $500,000 preparing a local shop is suing Rhode Island's Cannabis Control Commission after the state scrapped its original adult-use license process and restarted applications. The reset, prompted by concerns over a residency rule, has refunded fees but left first-round Cranston applicants questioning fairness and the future of their planned businesses.
   

• Cranston Man Arrested at Bally's Lincoln Casino in State Police Probe (bonus.com) — A 58-year-old Cranston resident was arrested at Bally's Twin River Lincoln Casino after state police alleged he obtained property by false pretenses and conspired with others during several incidents in late August. He was taken into custody on Sept. 18, arraigned, and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond, with investigators offering few details about the alleged fraud so far.
