Rebello Memorial Bridge Wednesday night while specially trained officers safely talked a man in crisis into protective custody and connected him with mental health services. Crash creates heavy traffic in East Providence (wpri.com) — Traffic on Taunton Avenue at the East Providence–Seekonk line was heavily backed up for hours Friday after a crash involving at least two vehicles, but the road has since reopened. East Providence and Seekonk police, along with Massachusetts transportation officials, responded, and authorities are still determining how the crash happened and whether anyone was injured.

Deaton slams Markey for 'reckless rhetoric' after vandal targets law firm (wpri.com) — East Providence police are investigating vandalism at U.S. Senate candidate John Deaton's North Broadway law office after a window was shattered while his assistant was working nearby. Deaton, the Republican nominee, blames Democratic Sen. Ed Markey's campaign rhetoric for creating a hostile climate, while police say they have no suspects yet and haven't determined a political motive.
