• North Smithfield Police Station: Grant, Hydrant Snags (upriseri.com) — North Smithfield's police station renovation has hit two key snags: a $500,000 federal dispatch grant the town can't spend until Justice Department approval, and a nearby hydrant whose low pressure fails fire-protection standards. Town officials say construction is otherwise progressing under budget, but they're racing to resolve the grant timing and water-pressure problem before the council's October 5 update.
   

• North Smithfield Water System Out of Compliance on TTHMs (upriseri.com) — If you live on North Smithfield's Slatersville water system, including Laurelwood, town officials say trihalomethane levels currently exceed state and federal limits, and engineers are designing a fix funded by a new Infrastructure Bank loan. The water superintendent explained why the problem is occurring, outlined a tentative timeline into 2026, and agreed to hold an informational session so residents better understand health notices and next steps.
