While individual awards spotlight Middletown and Newport groups, the foundation notes its Newport County Fund has directed more than $6.6 million since 2002 to organizations serving Jamestown, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, and Tiverton.
   

4. Dolly Parton's Newport legacy: one unforgettable appearance at Fort Adams, and a book in the mail every month (whatsupnewp.com) — Portsmouth families with children under five can receive a free book in the mail every month through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which has quietly served Newport County since 2020. Funded locally by the Bazarsky Family Foundation and run through Newport's MLK Community Center, the program has already reached more than 5,000 children and welcomes new registrations from Portsmouth parents online.
