Providence Child Molester Charged With Possessing Child Pornography

The Providence sex offender was previously sentences to six years in prison.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence child molester was charged with possessing child pornography, police said.

William Hudgins, 37, was arrested Thursday by the Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the state police said in a media release.

Hudgins was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, taken to Sixth Division District Court for an arraigment, according to the release.

"Mr. Hudgins was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Stephen M. Isherwood, where bail was set at $5,000 with surety, with the special conditions of limited internet access and no intentional contact with minors," the release said. "Mr. Hudgins was then presented as a violator in Superior Court and remanded to the Adult Correctional Institution."

Hudgins pleaded no contest to a charge of second-degree child molestation and five counts of first-degree child molestation were dismissed in May 2019.

He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with six to serve and nine suspended, with 15 years probation and a place on the Rhode Island Sex Offender registry.
