Four arrested after North Charleston apartment shooting leaves man dead, police say (abcnews4.com) — North Charleston police say four people have been arrested in connection with a July 27 shooting at the Retreat at Palm Pointe Apartments that left a man dead. Two suspects face murder and related charges, while two others are charged as accessories, and one defendant is being returned to Charleston County custody as the investigation continues.
   

2. Lowcounty Alzheimer's patient suffers nearly 1,000 ant bites; family sues care facility (counton2.com) — Charleston Police are investigating the death of an 83-year-old Alzheimer's patient after she was found outside a West Ashley memory care facility covered in ant bites, and her family has filed a lawsuit alleging negligence and wrongful death. The case centers on whether an unsecured door and delayed medical response at Harmony at West Ashley violated state rules for secure Alzheimer's units, raising serious concerns for local families using similar facilities.
   

3. Charleston seeks to tighten film, photography permit rules to limit downtown disruption (abcnews4.com) — If you live or work in downtown Charleston, city officials are moving to codify film and photography permit rules to cut down on disruptions in residential areas. Proposed changes would require parking plans, better coordination with trash and street services, and likely resident notifications, all while keeping casual family and wedding photos exempt as the ordinance moves through council over coming months.
   

4. 2 arrested after young children found inside abandoned North Charleston home (live5news.com) — North Charleston police arrested two adults after finding two young children inside a severely dilapidated, reportedly abandoned home on Southern Street under dangerous, unsanitary conditions. Officers reported no utilities, extreme heat, drug paraphernalia, and roach infestation before EMS took the children to a hospital and into emergency protective custody, while both suspects were booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
   

5. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completes Georgetown Harbor dredging (counton2.com) — Charleston's U.S. Army Corps District has finished a major $3.5 million dredging project to restore safe depths in Georgetown Harbor's federal navigation channels. Crews removed more than half a million cubic yards of sand and silt, improving access for commercial and recreational vessels while following strict wildlife protections that included monitoring for sturgeon, sea turtles, and manatees.
