• Former officer turned fugitive Dan Hiers booked into Berkeley County jail after extradition (counton2.com) — Goose Creek officials say former Charleston police officer and long-time fugitive Dan Hiers is now in the Berkeley County jail after extradition from China, moving a 2005 local murder case forward. Hiers faces a Goose Creek murder charge in his wife's death and a separate Dorchester County charge for criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
   

• Goose Creek man sentenced to 45 Years for fatal shooting of father protecting daughter (abcnews4.com) — A Goose Creek man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for murdering 53-year-old Earl Goodwater outside his family's home in the St. James Estates neighborhood. Prosecutors say the 2023 shooting happened after Butler assaulted his fiancée and then returned with a handgun, fatally shooting her father as he tried to protect his daughter and grandchildren.
