• Hilton Head resort closing temporarily, affecting hundreds of workers. What we know (islandpacket.com) — One of Hilton Head Island's largest resorts, the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa, plans to close for at least five months starting Nov. 2 for renovations, temporarily laying off 219 employees. The company says workers will be recalled once work is complete, and has filed the required WARN Act notice with the state. Locals should expect job impacts and a major oceanfront property offline during the project.
