IDB approves corridor revitalization grant (wdef.com) — Chattanooga businesses along corridors like Brainerd Road, Glass Street, and Rossville Boulevard will soon be able to apply for Commercial Corridor Revitalization Grants after the city's Industrial Development Board approved $54,000 over two years. The program aims to help struggling commercial areas upgrade security, signage, and facades, supporting neighborhood stability and local tax revenue while improving storefront appearances.
   

2. Purple Ticket Quest lifts Chattanooga as Soddy-Daisy girl receives Make-A-Wish's 2,000th (newschannel9.com) — A Soddy-Daisy 6-year-old turned her Make-A-Wish pizza party into a Chattanooga-wide Purple Ticket Quest, with stops at Erlanger Children's Hospital, UTC, and Chuck E. Cheese on the Northshore. Her adventure marked the 2,000th wish granted by Make-A-Wish East Tennessee, highlighting how the organization brings joy and hope to kids across the Chattanooga area each year.
   

3. State agency announces stakeholder conversations to discuss Chattanooga zoning law changes (timesfreepress.com) — Chattanooga residents are invited to a Sept. 22 stakeholder conversation at the Chattanooga Convention Center about new state rules affecting the city's Tourism Development Zone downtown and on the Southside. State tourism officials and Chattanooga Tourism Co. will explain recent legislation on street closures, law enforcement authority, and public-space rules, and gather feedback before permanent regulations are finalized, potentially shaping how local businesses and visitors experience the area.
   

4. UTC says partnership with CARTA will help keep alum local (local3news.com) — UTC and Chattanooga's CARTA are partnering on a $25 million federal grant that will fund autonomous shuttle development and a new learning lab for students. Beginning engineering work in 2027, the project will give UTC students hands-on experience with self-driving transit technology in downtown, with hopes that graduates will stay in Chattanooga to fill emerging high-tech transportation jobs.
   

5. Nancy Walden Hicks (chattanoogan.com) — Longtime area resident Nancy Walden Hicks, who once worked for Chattanooga companies and later retired from TVA's Watts Bar Dam, has passed away after a life of service and community involvement. She spent her later years in Ooltewah, cherished family, church, and volunteer work, and asked that friends honor her by sharing their faith and doing kind acts for others.
