Both women bring diverse experiences in emergency services and are diving into intensive training while embracing the department’s close-knit, family-style culture. Their arrival marks a notable moment for representation and service in the city’s public safety ranks. 
• Mossy Creek cleanup one week from tomorrow (standardbanner.com) — Jefferson City volunteers are invited to help clean up Mossy Creek next Friday, June 19, starting 5:30 p.m. at Mossy Creek Station. Organizers say even an hour of light trash pickup and trimming can greatly improve the blueway for kayakers, anglers, and walkers. Bring gloves, old clothes, and optional water-safe tools, and RSVP via the Mossy Creek Collective’s Facebook page.
