McGhee Tyson Airport adding trackers to reduce risk on the airfield (knoxnews.com) — New safety technology is coming to McGhee Tyson Airport, where up to 100 vehicle transponders will soon help pilots and controllers track every truck and car on the Knoxville airfield. Funded mostly by federal dollars, the system aims to cut runway incursions and near-misses at East Tennessee's busiest airport, adding another layer of protection for local travelers and workers.
   

2. Tennessee attorney general addresses legality of license plate readers and what next steps might be (wsmv.com) — State Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti says license plate reader cameras, including those recently covered in Knox County, are likely legal if used under strict limits and for short-term data collection. Speaking in Knoxville, he urged lawmakers to set clear rules and safeguards, while reminding residents that phones and other technologies may pose even bigger privacy concerns than roadside cameras.
   

3. Maverick Sharp carries Halls to first win in Knoxville's Week 5 top performers (knoxnews.com) — Knoxville-area high school football fans can check out which local standouts shined in Week 5, including Halls' Maverick Sharp, who powered his team's big win with three rushing touchdowns. Players from Austin-East, Gibbs, Grace Christian, Hardin Valley and more Knoxville-region schools are highlighted with detailed stats from Thursday and Friday's games.

Clarksville Has Tennessee's Second-Lowest Gas Prices - Clarksville Online - Clarksville News, Sports, Events and Information (clarksvilleonline.com) — Drivers in Knoxville are paying about $3.90 a gallon for regular gas, slightly below the statewide average as prices climb on the back of $100-per-barrel crude oil. A new AAA report shows Tennessee prices up sharply from last month and last year, with Knoxville still faring a bit better than some other major cities despite the ongoing volatility.
