The win comes with a twist for local supporters, though, since Knoxville Catholic remains ineligible for the TSSAA playoffs this season because of a recruiting violation, making every regular-season thriller especially bittersweet.

• Tennessee Supreme Court declines to stay execution of West Virginia woman (wowktv.com) — Tennessee's Supreme Court has refused to delay the execution of Christa Pike, whose death sentence stems from a notorious murder tied to a Knoxville Job Corps program. With her execution set for Sept. 30, attorneys are turning to the U.S. Supreme Court and Governor Bill Lee, arguing her mental health history and youth at the time warrant clemency.
