The Memory Lab offers equipment, basic guidance, and reservable space, making it easier for Knoxville residents to preserve family history without buying pricey gear.
   

• Blow flies could hold the key to preventing disease outbreaks (knoxnews.com) — Researchers connected to UT's Knoxville campus are turning blow flies from the Smokies into tiny disease detectives, using mobile DNA labs just a couple hours from town. Their goal is to create simple, low-cost tools communities worldwide could use to spot dangerous pathogens early, with methods refined in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and presented at a recent Park Science Colloquium.
