Knoxville, East Tennessee Communities Receive More Than $11 Million in State Parks and Recreation Grants (wivk.com) — Knoxville is set to receive $1.15 million for riverfront park upgrades and a new bike skills course, part of more than $11 million in state recreation grants for East Tennessee. The funding will enhance McWherter, Suttree Landing, and Holston River parks while also boosting trails, playgrounds, splash pads, and river access in surrounding communities.

Two injured after shooting at First Creek Park in Knoxville (wate.com) — Two men were injured in an overnight shooting linked to First Creek Park in Knoxville, and both are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at local hospitals. Knoxville Police say a large group was gathered at the park when gunfire broke out and are asking anyone with information to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously to help identify what happened and who was involved.
   

3. TN Lottery Mega Millions, Cash 3 Morning winning numbers for Aug. 21, 2026 (tennessean.com subscription) — Knoxville lottery players can cash prizes up to $199,999 at the Cedar Springs Shopping Center district office on Kingston Pike, open weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The latest Tennessee Lottery results for Mega Millions, Cash 3, Cash 4, Daily Tennessee Jackpot, Tennessee Cash and Millionaire for Life are listed, along with step-by-step instructions for claiming prizes by mail or in person.
   

4. See photos of Smokey XII at One Knoxville SC game at Covenant Health Park (knoxnews.com) — Smokey XII, the beloved blue tick hound mascot, joined fans at Covenant Health Park for One Knoxville SC's home match against AC Boise, hamming it up for photos and treats. 5. New state park in East Tennessee showcases one of the state's 'most unique waterways' (wate.com) — A new Clinch River Valley State Park has opened about 70 miles northeast of Knoxville, giving residents another nearby spot for cabins, river access, and scenic hikes. The park protects 21 acres along one of the nation's most biodiverse rivers, and Tennesseans are invited to help shape its long-term vision through a Tennessee State Parks public survey.
