Your sprinkler could be putting a strain on Nashville's water system (newschannel5.com) — Metro Water Services is asking Nashville residents to adjust automatic sprinkler schedules so everyone irrigates on staggered days between midnight and 4 a.m., easing strain on pumps that feed higher-elevation neighborhoods. While there's no water shortage, overuse at peak times could weaken home water pressure and even complicate firefighting if conditions worsen.
   

2. Toxic algae bloom suspected in Nashville's Centennial Park lake (wsmv.com) — If you're heading to Centennial Park, officials are warning that the lake may currently contain toxic blue-green algae and are urging people and pets to avoid the water. State environmental experts have taken samples, and Metro Parks is waiting on lab results expected next week before updating Nashville residents on any further precautions.
   

3. WeGo Nashville buses add Murfreesboro Transit Center stop (mainstreetmediatn.com) — Nashville riders who commute to Murfreesboro will soon see WeGo buses shifting their Murfreesboro stop from behind Stones River Mall to the new transit center on New Salem Highway starting Monday, Oct. 5. The route will still serve MTSU and end at WeGo Central near the state Capitol, with potential extra buses for Nashville Soccer Club and Titans games.
   

4. Nashville songwriter uses AI singer to share his music (newschannel5.com) — A longtime Nashville songwriter is using an AI-generated singer, Vance Drake, to finally share songs he's written over decades in the city's music scene while keeping the songwriting itself fully human. Local industry voices at the Nashville Songwriter Awards weigh in on AI's role, and Gray stresses transparency so listeners know when a voice is artificial.
   

5. On the job and in the classroom (tnledger.com) — A major construction apprenticeship hub based near Nashville International Airport is training hundreds of local workers through evening classes and on-the-job learning, then exporting that model to Knoxville. For Nashville residents considering alternatives to college, the program offers paid training, portable credentials, and strong connections to regional construction employers.
