1. Arlington Secures Elite 'Grand Slam' Status with Digital Media Friendly Texas Designation (arlingtonnetwork.com) — Arlington has just become only the fourth Texas city to earn a full "Grand Slam" of state creative-industry certifications, capped by a new Digital Media Friendly Texas designation. Local officials say this could bring high-paying tech and entertainment jobs, spur partnerships for schools and small businesses, and help expand digital literacy and workforce training opportunities for Arlington residents.
   

2. Charlotte bank's auto loan pivot leads to more than 200 layoffs in Arlington (dallasnews.com) — More than 200 employees at Truist's Regional Acceptance office in southeast Arlington are losing their jobs as the bank exits the near-prime auto loan business. Layoffs are expected to begin in late November and wrap up by February, affecting many local families while Truist offers limited support like severance and job search assistance.
   

3. Robotaxi operator reports Texas' first fatal autonomous vehicle collision (dallasnews.com) — Texas' first fatal robotaxi-related crash has been recorded in Dallas, and new federal data show 22 autonomous-vehicle collisions statewide in just four weeks, with several in North Texas. Dallas and Arlington together reported 10 recent robotaxi crashes, putting local streets squarely in the spotlight as companies like Tesla and Waymo rapidly expand their driverless fleets across major Texas cities.
   

4. UTA's Jennifer Cowley broke a glass ceiling. She hopes it opens doors for diverse leaders (fortworthreport.org) — Former UTA president and Arlington native Jennifer Cowley is stepping back to teaching and research after breaking a glass ceiling as the university's first woman president. Speaking at a Fort Worth conference, she urged more diverse leadership that reflects UTA's heavily Hispanic, Asian, and Black student body, while interim president Archie Holmes becomes the first Black leader of the Arlington campus.
