This first slice of a $30 million authorization will support infrastructure work like the Cypress Ditch project and wastewater plant demolition, with the borrowing already built into the upcoming city budget.

• Betty June Freeland, 94 – WLKM Radio 95.9 FM (wlkm.com) — Longtime librarian and avid singer Betty June Freeland, a Bellaire resident who spent her final years at the Gardens of Bellaire, has died at age 94. Remembered for her love of books, music, travel, and community service, she leaves family in Texas and the Midwest, with a memorial service to be held later in Sturgis, Michigan.
