Friends of the Poor Walk Saturday, Oct. 24, Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, Irving (ramblernewspapers.com) — Irving neighbors are invited to join the fifth annual Friends of the Poor Walk on Saturday, Oct. 24, starting 8 a.m. at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church on Cheyenne Street. The short walk to Northwest Park raises funds for local Society of St. Vincent de Paul programs that help Irving families with rent, utilities, food, and other basic needs, with refreshments, T‑shirts, and even leashed pets welcome.

General Motors Awards $350,000 Grant to MADD to Expand Underage Substance Use Prevention and Enhance Victim Services Nationwide (madd.org) — MADD, headquartered in Irving, has secured a $350,000 grant from General Motors to expand underage substance use prevention programs and improve online victim support tools nationwide. While the impact is national, the funding reinforces Irving's role as a hub for traffic safety advocacy and could support local schools, caregivers, and victims seeking updated digital resources and training opportunities.
   

4. FCC Proposes Fine for Jamming Jewelry Store Security (incompliancemag.com) — A recent FCC enforcement action stems from a 2025 jewelry store burglary in Irving, where suspects allegedly used illegal radiofrequency jammers to disrupt police communications. Irving Police arrested three people at the scene and recovered two 700 MHz jammers, and federal regulators now propose a $25,000 fine for violating the nationwide ban on such devices.
