• Montgomery County commissioners to vote on growth legislation (communityimpact.com) — Montgomery County commissioners will vote October 8 on a resolution asking the Legislature for more power to adopt local ordinances on growth, safety, and infrastructure—changes that could directly affect daily life in Montgomery. With most of the county still unincorporated, leaders say they need stronger tools to manage rapid development, drainage, utilities, and road demands.
   

• Montgomery County 4-H member wins top State Fair of Texas pig prize (houstonchronicle.com) — A young Montgomery County 4-H member just won the top State Fair of Texas market barrow prize with a pig bred at Brockman Farms in Montgomery, highlighting local expertise on a statewide stage. The 12-year-old exhibitor earned $44,000 at auction and will receive an additional scholarship award next summer, underscoring how youth livestock programs can benefit local families.
