1. New food truck court coming to Victoria (crossroadstoday.com) — Developers are moving ahead with a new food truck court at 1311 Ash Street in Victoria, aiming to open in about 60 days. The project will give residents a central spot for diverse food options now and could eventually grow into a larger entertainment hub supporting local small businesses and family activities.
   

2. Victoria County plans animal shelter renovations (victoriaadvocate.com) — Victoria County commissioners have approved moving forward with renovations to the county's Animal Services facility to fix a poorly performing waste-collection system and improve kennels and drainage. Officials are preparing to seek design-build proposals in October, aiming to upgrade conditions for animals while using donations to help limit the cost to local taxpayers.
   

3. Victoria County adopts budget, higher tax rate (victoriaadvocate.com) — Victoria County commissioners have approved the 2027 budget and a higher property tax rate, a move that will raise the bill on a $100,000 home by about $11.30. Most of the added revenue will support employee pay, health insurance and public safety, though one commissioner opposed the increase over concerns about taxpayers already facing higher appraisals and school bond costs.
   

4. Victoria County included in data center probe (victoriaadvocate.com) — Victoria County has been swept into a statewide probe of data centers' water-use reporting, putting extra scrutiny on any future projects in the area. While no facilities are under construction yet, Victoria officials already tightened local rules on data centers and crypto-mining, including strict cooling and water management requirements that could shape how new high-tech developments come here.
   

5. Victoria resident celebrates 107th birthday (crossroadstoday.com) — A longtime Victoria County resident just marked an incredible milestone, with officials proclaiming September 28, 2026, as "Martha Sembera Day" in her honor. The Sodalis Victoria Assisted Living resident turned 107 surrounded by family, friends, and county leaders, celebrating a life that's included decades of public service and small business ownership across the Crossroads region.
