The Woodlands Arts Council's Microgrant Application is now Open (hellowoodlands.com) — Residents and arts educators in The Woodlands can now apply for microgrants from The Woodlands Arts Council through October 5, supporting creative projects in local schools and organizations. Recent grants funded filmmaking equipment for Conroe High School and an author visit to Hailey Elementary, showing how this program directly benefits nearby students and classrooms.
   

2. Pavilion Palooza replaces Children's Festival in The Woodlands (yourconroenews.com) — The long-running Children's Festival at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands is being reimagined this year as Pavilion Palooza, a two-day global music, dance, and arts celebration Nov. 7-8. Families can explore themed zones like Rhythm Village, Plaza de la Música, and Palooza Playland for $10 tickets, with children 2 and under admitted free.
   

3. The Woodlands weighs MCSO mounted patrol to replace Alpha & Omega (yourconroenews.com) — The Woodlands Township is considering replacing longtime private mounted patrol provider Alpha & Omega with Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies, shifting funding into the law-enforcement budget. Board members say the change could boost public safety and give mounted officers full police powers, while Alpha & Omega urges a side-by-side comparison on cost, coverage and readiness before any final decision.
   

4. The Boots vs. Badges Softball Game set for September 27 (hellowoodlands.com) — The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office will face The Woodlands Fire Department in the free Boots vs. Badges Softball Game on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. at McCullough Junior High in The Woodlands. Residents can enjoy a Kid Zone, concessions, and the Hot Rods & Home Runs classic car display while cheering on local first responders as part of National Night Out festivities.
   

5. Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center Emergency Department receives 2026 ENA Lantern Award (hellowoodlands.com) — Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center's Emergency Department has earned the 2026 ENA Lantern Award, highlighting its strong leadership, innovation and patient-focused care. Local patients and families benefit from initiatives like improved communication, family engagement and faster antibiotic delivery, which the hospital credits to its dedicated nurses, physicians and support staff.
