Co-workers remember Salt Lake City hit-and-run victim as devoted father-to-be (ksl.com) — A downtown Salt Lake City restaurant worker was killed in a hit-and-run while walking home near Main Street and 400 South, leaving behind a pregnant wife. Co-workers at White Horse and Franklin Ave are grieving, closing briefly and donating a night's proceeds, while a GoFundMe offers neighbors another way to support his family as police continue investigating.
   

2. Body camera footage shows Salt Lake City officer-involved shooting (kutv.com) — Newly released body camera footage shows Salt Lake City police confronting a man with a knife near a Burger King on 400 South before chasing him toward 600 East and shooting him, injuring but not killing him. The August 31 incident, now under investigation by Protocol Team 2, has placed the involved officers on administrative leave while officials release limited additional details.
   

3. Adventure Buddies Day helps Salt Lake City residents find their perfect pet (abc4.com) — Salt Lake City residents could spend the day exploring with an "adventure buddy" dog from the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center, helping shelter pets get a break and maybe find a permanent home. The event, part of a national initiative, encourages locals to showcase each dog's personality on social media, and the shelter continues to offer daily outings from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
   

4. Mountains, faith and goat polo: The unlikely diplomacy drawing Kyrgyzstan to Utah (deseret.com) — Salt Lake City hosted Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Zhaparov this weekend, highlighting Utah's growing role in international diplomacy and trade. Local leaders showcased the Utah State Capitol, faith traditions, and shared mountain and mining economies, while a Utah cowboy-turned-Kok-Boru star helped underscore unusual cultural ties that could translate into new business and humanitarian partnerships for the state.
   

5. Girls come together to learn more about aviation at Salt Lake City International Airport (fox13now.com) — Young people gathered at Salt Lake City International Airport to explore aviation careers, hearing from female pilots, students, and industry professionals working to boost representation in the cockpit and beyond. With strong turnout and growing aviation classes in Utah schools, organizers hope more local girls and boys will see aviation as an attainable, exciting path.
