Pedestrian Dies In Metro Bus Crash Near Fairfax-Arlington County Line
A pedestrian died after a crash involving a Metro bus near the Fairfax-Arlington line. Three police departments responded.
BAILEY’S CROSSROADS, VA — A pedestrian died after a crash involving a Metro bus near the Fairfax County-Arlington County line Sunday night, according to police.
Arlington County police said officers were dispatched at 8:51 p.m. to a reported crash at 14th Street South and South Glebe Road. In a post on X at 9:52 p.m., the department described the crash as involving a critically injured pedestrian and said the driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene.
Fairfax County police subsequently reported a fatal pedestrian crash involving a Metro bus at Carlin Springs Road and Columbia Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads. Police said the pedestrian, identified only as an adult male, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

The bus driver remained at the scene, according to Fairfax County police.
The two departments described the scene using locations on opposite sides of the Fairfax-Arlington boundary. Officers from both departments responded, along with Metro Transit Police.

In a post at 10:17 p.m., Metro Transit Police said Fairfax County police’s Crash Reconstruction Unit was leading the investigation. Metro police officers and Metro supervisors were providing support at the scene.
Fairfax County police said Carlin Springs Road was closed in both directions and advised drivers to use alternate routes. Arlington County police also warned residents to expect continued police activity in the area.
Authorities did not release the pedestrian’s name or provide additional information about the circumstances leading to the crash.
