Arlington High-Rise Fire Sends Occupant, Firefighter To Hospital

ARLINGTON, VA — An occupant and a firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a fire Sunday night at an Arlington high-rise apartment building, according to Arlington Fire & EMS.

Firefighters responded to the 1000 block of North Quincy Street, where a fire broke out in a seventh-floor apartment. The department announced the response shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday and advised people to avoid the area because of the large emergency response.

After extinguishing the fire, crews worked to remove smoke from the building. Three people were evaluated for possible smoke inhalation, fire officials said in an initial update.

In a final update posted about two hours later, Arlington Fire & EMS said one occupant and one firefighter had been treated and taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Smoke was ventilated from the building. Fire marshals were investigating the fire’s origin and cause.
