Arlington, Alexandria Join Forces In $67B Dominion-NextEra Merger Case (patch.com) — Arlington County is teaming up with Alexandria to intervene in state regulators' review of NextEra Energy's proposed $67 billion acquisition of Dominion Energy, citing concerns about reliability, affordability and clean-energy goals. Local leaders say their joint participation will help ensure Arlington's residents and businesses are protected as the State Corporation Commission weighs public comments and testimony through November.

Arlington Man Charged With Assaulting Deputy, Pepper-Spraying Victim: Police (patch.com) — An Arlington man has been charged after police linked two late-night assaults in Arlington, including a pepper-spraying and an alleged attack on a sheriff's deputy who tried to break up a fight. Authorities say multiple victims suffered minor injuries, and court records show several felony and misdemeanor charges now moving through Arlington General District Court.
   

3. Arlington Planning Commission To Weigh Cell Towers, Delinquent Taxes, Zoning Appeals (patch.com) — Arlington residents will soon have a chance to weigh in as the county's Planning Commission considers zoning changes affecting temporary cell towers, delinquent tax payments tied to land-use approvals, and shorter appeal windows for some violations. The proposals, driven by updates to Virginia law, would make temporary telecom structures a by-right use countywide and let the county pause certain applications until overdue taxes and fees are paid. Public hearings start Oct. 5, with County Board action expected later in October.
   

4. 3 Killed In I-395 Exit Ramp Crash After Police Pursuit From Alexandria (patch.com) — A high-speed police pursuit that began in Alexandria ended in tragedy on the I-395 exit ramp at Shirlington Road in Arlington, where a stolen vehicle crashed and left three juveniles dead and a fourth critically injured. Virginia State Police say Arlington police and fire crews joined Alexandria responders in providing emergency care at the scene as the investigation into the deadly incident continues.
