Arlington County Board Orders End To Flock Camera Use (patch.com) — Arlington residents will soon see Flock license plate reader cameras removed from public property after the County Board ordered an end to the county's use of the technology. Citing community concerns and a need to maintain public trust, officials will delete unneeded data and give a progress update at the board's Sept. 22 recessed meeting.

Virginia diocese investigates potential sainthood cause for Catholic father who saved his son (osvnews.com) — Arlington's Catholic Diocese is formally investigating whether local father Thomas Vander Woude could be declared a saint after he died saving his son from a septic tank accident. Church leaders are asking Northern Virginia Catholics to share memories, writings, and possible answered prayers linked to him as they assemble testimony for the Vatican's review.
   

3. 18-year-old Arlington man charged in DC armed carjacking, assault (dcnewsnow.com) — An 18-year-old Arlington resident has been charged in connection with an armed carjacking and a separate pistol-whipping assault in Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police say the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested him this week and are still investigating, asking anyone with information about the June and July incidents to contact their tip line.
   

4. Carawich Named as U.S. Eventing Hall of Fame Inductee for 2026 (useventing.com) — Arlington will host the 2026 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention and Hall of Fame Gala from December 11–13, bringing major national equestrian attention and visitors to town. This year's announcement highlights legendary eventing horse Carawich as the sole equine inductee, with more honorees to be revealed leading up to the Arlington convention.
   

5. Pentagon plans to exhume, identify Korean War remains in Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (stripes.com) — The Pentagon plans to exhume the Korean War Unknown from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery so advanced DNA testing can try to identify the service member. Officials say the move follows years of work identifying Korean War dead and could mirror the earlier identification of the Vietnam Unknown, while preserving the memorial's symbolic role.
