Arlington Man Charged After Gun Allegedly Fired Through Vehicle Windshield (patch.com) — Arlington police say a 33-year-old local man is charged with reckless handling of a firearm after a gun was allegedly fired through the windshield of a moving car near Columbia Pike and South Dinwiddie Street. No one was hurt, but all three occupants went to Inova Alexandria Hospital as a precaution, and the man was released on a summons.

Alexandria prioritizes tree management as it battles invasive spotted lanternflies (alxnow.com) — Arlington and Alexandria officials are ramping up efforts to remove tree‑of‑heaven and slow the spread of invasive spotted lanternflies, with about 100 problem trees already queued for action in Arlington. Local natural‑resources staff and Virginia Cooperative Extension experts say residents should kill lanternflies when they see them, report tree‑of‑heaven on public land, and expect several more heavy infestation seasons before nature starts balancing things out.
   

3. Officer Saw Suspect Strangling Victim During Arlington Robbery Attempt: Police (patch.com) — An Arlington police officer stopped an alleged strangulation and attempted robbery early Monday near the Courthouse area, intervening as a suspect reportedly pulled a bag strap tight around a man's neck. The victim later sought hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, and the suspect now faces multiple felony charges while presumed innocent pending a September court hearing.
   

4. Fights caught on camera after spilling outside of Arlington bars (arlnow.com) — Two late-night fights outside Arlington bars over the weekend led to one man being hospitalized and another arrested after allegedly striking a police officer in Clarendon. Traffic cameras and a local safety watcher captured the brawls, which occurred near Ricky's Pub on N. Glebe Road and later along Wilson Boulevard. Police intervened quickly, and no officers were reported injured.
   

5.
