• Burke Motorcyclist Dies After Braddock Road Crash Near Kings Park (patch.com) — A 45-year-old Burke man has died after his motorcycle collided with a car Friday night at Braddock Road and Southampton Drive near Kings Park, according to Fairfax County Police. Eastbound Braddock was closed for hours while crash reconstruction detectives investigated, and officers are still examining whether speed or alcohol played a role. Police are asking anyone with information to contact their Crash Reconstruction Unit or submit an anonymous tip.
   

• NEW: Fairfax County proposes high school crossing guard funding, safety improvements (ffxnow.com) — Fairfax County is moving to restore 11 high school crossing guard positions after several recent student crashes, including a bicyclist hit at Burke Road and Burke Lake Drive near Lake Braddock. The proposal would spend about $708,000 and consider added beacons, lighting, and crosswalk upgrades at high schools. Officials say congestion from student drivers and parent drop-offs is a major safety concern that may require broader transportation changes.
