Fairfax Fire Investigators Seek Tips In Popes Head Road Building Fire

FAIRFAX STATION, VA — Fire investigators are asking for the public’s help as they work to determine what caused a fire early Sunday in the 11100 block of Popes Head Road in Fairfax Station.

Shortly after 3 a.m., Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to a fire in a one-story building, according to t release. A passing driver discovered the fire and called 911. No injuries were reported.

The building was vacant and had been listed for sale for an extended period, according to the release. Investigators determined that a group of individuals had been at the property on the evening of the fire. There was evidence the location had previously been used by trespassers for campfires or vandalism inside the vacant building.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in or around the location on or before the weekend of May 3 to provide information that could help the investigation, according to the release. The notice did not identify the individuals investigators said were at the building that evening, and it did not state a cause of the fire.
