Ohio Man Faces Manslaughter Counts In I-495 Christmas Crash That Killed 2

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — An Ohio man charged in a Christmas night crash on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County that killed two people now faces two involuntary manslaughter counts, Virginia State Police said.

Devin Juliana, 48, of Steubenville, Ohio, was served with the manslaughter counts on Thursday as state police continue to investigate the Dec. 25, 2025, crash. He is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to state police.

Juliana also faces a reckless driving charge in Fairfax County General District Court. Online court records show the charge was filed Feb. 11 and lists the case as a Class 1 misdemeanor. A hearing in that case was continued Thursday by agreement, with the next adjudicatory hearing scheduled for June 23 at 9:30 a.m.

Troopers were called to I-495 eastbound at the 49-mile marker just after 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 25 after witnesses reported a Toyota Sienna minivan in the eastbound Express Lanes with heavy rear-end damage, state police said.

All five occupants of the Sienna were taken to a hospital. Two passengers, 75-year-old Su Nguyen, of Annandale, and a 15-year-old juvenile, later died from their injuries, police said.

A short distance from the Sienna, troopers found a damaged Dodge Ram pickup truck on the main lanes of I-495. Devin Juliana, who was driving the Ram, and a passenger, Tiffany Juliana, now 44, were taken to a hospital, police said. Tiffany Juliana suffered serious injuries.

Investigators said the Sienna had been traveling in the center lanes of the I-495 main lanes at about the posted speed limit of 55 mph when it was struck from behind by the Dodge Ram. The Ram was traveling at more than 100 mph, according to state police.

The impact crushed the rear interior compartment of the Sienna and pushed the minivan into the Express Lanes, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
