Diocese of Richmond announces clergy assignments for 2026-2027 (catholicvirginian.org) — Catholics in Fincastle will see a change at Church of the Transfiguration this summer, as Father Peter Naah becomes pastor and Father Zaverio Banasula moves to Virginia Beach. The Diocese of Richmond’s new assignments, effective July 1, also shuffle many other priests across Virginia parishes, but Fincastle’s Masses and ministries will continue under new leadership.

Sidewalk Art Sale, VA 250 play at Attic Productions, VMT's rockabilly (wfirnews.com) — A new one-act play, A Most Horrid Conspiracy, is running this Thursday through Sunday at Attic Productions in Fincastle as part of Virginia’s VA 250 celebration. The Culture Calendar also highlights Roanoke’s Sidewalk Art Show and the Star City Rockabilly Festival for those looking to explore nearby arts events.

The Roanoke Valley is experiencing a drought, but it's far from raising red flags (cardinalnews.org) — Fincastle residents who get water through the Western Virginia Water Authority are in a region facing one of the driest stretches in more than a century, but reservoir supplies remain very strong. Carvins Cove and Spring Hollow together hold over 500 days of water, even as officials weigh updating a nearly 20‑year‑old drought plan and adding a higher‑use rate tier ahead of Google’s massive Botetourt County data center project.
