Fredericksburg Man Charged After Shoplifting Report At Local Convenience Store
A 21-year-old Fredericksburg man was charged after deputies responded to to a larceny report at a local convenience store.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A Fredericksburg man was charged Sunday night after deputies responded to a larceny report at the Wawa at 9 South Gateway Drive.
According to the incident report, a deputy responded to the store shortly after 8:30 p.m. The deputy made contact with the suspect, who showed signs of impairment, including glassy eyes, slurred speech, unsteady balance and a strong odor of alcohol coming from the breath.
The deputy then saw the suspect consume an alcoholic beverage in front of him. Store camera footage confirmed that the suspect entered the Wawa, selected alcoholic beverages and passed all points of sale without paying, according to the report.

The suspect was identified as Rashawn Lucas, 21, of Fredericksburg. Lucas was charged with public intoxication, two counts of shoplifting and drinking alcohol in a public place, according to the report.
Lucas was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
