United Foundation is bringing its fifth annual Golf Classic to Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville on Monday, Sept. 21, raising money for youth sports access across the region. Expect players, coaches, and partners on the course, with proceeds supporting free clinics, field upgrades, and equipment for local kids. 
• American Kratom Association sues DEA over natural kratom scheduling reach (sciotovalleyguardian.com) — A Gainesville-based advocacy group, the American Kratom Association, is suing the DEA to ensure a temporary ban on three synthetic compounds doesn’t accidentally cover natural kratom leaf. The group wants a clear, science-based threshold so Gainesville-area kratom users and sellers aren’t swept into federal enforcement meant for lab-made opioids.
