• Tri-Area seeks court review of Medicaid decision (pmg-va.com) — A regional health center that serves Galax is asking a Virginia court to review a state Medicaid reimbursement decision it says shortchanged it by about $7.48 million over more than a decade. The outcome could affect how well Tri‑Area Community Health can fund and maintain services for Medicaid patients in Galax and surrounding counties. 
• Commonwealth's Attorney: Carroll County deputy justified in fatal shooting of woman (wset.com) — A Carroll County deputy was found justified in the fatal September shooting of Stephie N. Bean, a Galax resident, after a struggle over a handgun during an arrest attempt on Ivanhoe Road. State police investigated and the Commonwealth’s Attorney concluded no criminal charges will be filed against the deputy involved.
