📰 News we're reading

• Dan Hoffman Out as Herndon Town Manager After Under a Year (thewinchestergazette.com) — Herndon's Town Council has abruptly terminated Town Manager Dan Hoffman after less than a year, appointing Deputy Town Manager Kirstyn Jovanovich as interim leader while they decide next steps. Officials are citing personnel privacy laws and declining to explain the decision, prompting sharp debate among Herndon residents online about transparency, upcoming town elections, and whether more details should be shared.

• Tysons apartment costs rise, other areas of county see drop in new data (ffxnow.com) — New rental data show Herndon's median apartment rents are essentially flat, at about $1,837 for one-bedrooms and $2,204 for two-bedrooms, even as much of Fairfax County sees small declines. For local renters and landlords, that means Herndon remains relatively stable while nearby areas like Annandale and Fair Oaks soften and Tysons continues to get pricier.

• Reston resident completes 1,000-mile bicycle ride for charity (ffxnow.com) — Reston resident Don Weber just wrapped up a 1,000-mile charity bike ride that finished at his employer ePlus's headquarters in Herndon, drawing attention to global energy poverty. The multi-state ride raised tens of thousands of dollars for Watts of Love, which provides solar lights to communities without electricity, and organizers are already eyeing a 2027 Michigan route.
