Concrete Waste Illegally Dumped Into Leesburg Storm Drain, Town Says
The town said no impact on drinking water or wildlife had been observed after concrete slurry was dumped into a storm drain.
LEESBURG, VA — The town of Leesburg reported on its Nextdoor page that someone illicitly poured concrete slurry into a storm drain Tuesday south of Loudoun Street and upstream of the Town Branch tributary.
The tributary flows into Tuscarora Creek, which flows into Goose Creek and ultimately the Potomac River. The tributary is currently undergoing a restoration project scheduled through 2033.
After being alerted to the incident, town staff worked with the Department of Environmental Quality and what the town described as "the responsible party" on cleanup efforts. The town has not identified that party.

In its Thursday post, the town said the cleanup contractor would remain on site through the end of the day to complete the work. Despite the slurry's appearance, town officials said they had not observed any impact on drinking water or wildlife.
Patch asked the town to identify the responsible party and clarify whether cleanup efforts are ongoing. A town representative said they would call back, but they did not respond by publication.
