MD Juvenile Charged After 130 MPH I-95 Chase Ends In Trooper Crash
A Maryland juvenile faces charges after a high-speed I-95 chase ended with a Virginia State Police cruiser being rammed.
FAIRFAX, VA — A Maryland juvenile is facing multiple charges after authorities said he led Virginia State Police on a high-speed pursuit through Fairfax and Prince William counties early Wednesday, striking a civilian vehicle and ramming a state police cruiser before being taken into custody.
According to Virginia State Police, the pursuit began around 1:21 a.m. after troopers were notified of a stolen vehicle traveling south on Interstate 395 in Fairfax County.
Troopers located the vehicle on Interstate 95 south of the Springfield Interchange, commonly known as the Mixing Bowl, and attempted a traffic stop. Police said the driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.

Speeds Exceeded 130 MPH, Police Say
State police said the pursuit continued south on I-95, with the suspect vehicle reaching speeds of more than 130 mph.
The vehicle exited I-95 at Exit 150, where police said it struck an uninvolved vehicle. A trooper attempted a maneuver to stop the vehicle on Minnieville Road, but the driver continued to flee and re-entered I-95 northbound.

While traveling north on I-95, troopers attempted to box in the suspect vehicle. During that effort, police said the driver intentionally rammed a Virginia State Police cruiser, forcing it into the concrete jersey barrier.
The suspect vehicle continued for about 100 yards before coming to a stop, according to state police.
Trooper Suffers Minor Injuries
The driver, a juvenile from Maryland, was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation. After being treated and released, the juvenile was taken to the Fairfax County Juvenile Intake Center.
State police said the juvenile has been charged with:
- Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
- Assault on a law enforcement officer
- Felony eluding
An 18-year-old passenger and three juvenile passengers were released without charges, according to police.
The trooper whose cruiser was struck was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. State police said the trooper was treated and released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
