'Factory of Fear' haunted attraction returns to the ARTfactory in Manassas (insidenova.com) — A major Halloween draw is returning to downtown Manassas as ARTfactory's four-story "Factory of Fear" haunted attraction reopens Oct. 15 with a new "Outbreak" storyline. Community volunteers are transforming the historic building and adjoining Caton Merchant Family Gallery, with proceeds supporting accessible arts programs and a themed group art exhibit running through Oct. 31.

A new RTP book says IBM nearly picked Manassas (potomaclocal.com) — Manassas nearly became IBM's flagship campus in the 1960s, but Virginia's segregationist stance reportedly pushed the company toward North Carolina instead. The piece clarifies that IBM later opened and operated a Manassas manufacturing plant from 1969 to 1994, correcting common misconceptions about its closure and the city's last segregated school.
